After nearly two years, Ed Sheeran has shared new music and not just one song, but two singles.
Sheeran hasn’t released his a single since he released his single”Photograph” back in May 2015. Over the past few months, he had been hinting at new music and that his next album is called Divide. Sheeran finally released new music early Friday morning (Jan. 6) with two new songs.
“Cause I’ve been away for a bit here’s two singles rather than one,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram with snippets of each song. Behold, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”
“Shape of You” isn’t quite like the typical Sheeran tune. But that almost serves as an indication of what the “Thinking Out Loud” singer has been up to during his hiatus: creating music that still feels like Sheeran, just with a new twist.
Similarly, “Castle on the Hill” has a vibe that is fast-paced, yet powerful melody that builds to an epic chorus that’s just as Sheeran as all of his past singles.
There is no further details for the album or its progressions aside from the singles, but there’s speculation that the next album will be called Divide.
